Rocket Broadcaster's purpose is to streamline live radio broadcasts. It allows you to stream sounds from any source on your computer to an online radio station, via Icecast or SHOUTcast. The application comes with a good number of helpful features, but it keeps things simple at the same time. You can make all the necessary preparations and start broadcasting in less than a minute.

The software is available in free and paid versions, for Windows 7 and all later editions. Downloading the setup file and installing its components doesn't take long, but you will have to reboot your computer once the installation process is complete. The hardware requirements are modest and you don't have to install any prerequisite tools.

The main user interface has a simple layout and only a few controls, which anyone can learn in no time. You can set up one or more streams on a separate window, by specifying a server address, port, login credentials and so on. The application lets you choose between Icecast and SHOUTcast server types and you can also opt for an Icecast SSL server.

Configured streams show up in a list, on the main interface and you can establish a connection by selecting a stream and clicking a large button, in the upper right corner of the window. Establishing multiple connections is another possibility, if you have more than one Internet connections. This way, you can have a backup stream, in case the first one fails. What's more, if a connection fails, the application will automatically attempt to re-establish that connection.

As previously mentioned, Rocket Broadcaster can stream from any audio source on your computer, which can be a media player, browser, a microphone and so on. The application's metadata capture capabilities are also worth mentioning. As you might have guessed, the software can use an audio file's metadata to display a song's name, artist, album and other details. What's more, you can set the application to capture metadata from specific sources, like audio players or browsers.

Rocket Broadcaster gives you the possibility of setting up an online radio station anyway you want, without any kind of difficulties.

Pros

You can set up multiple streams. Rocket Broadcaster can reconnect your streams automatically if they fail. Also, the application is capable of capturing metadata.

Cons

Certain features are reserved for the paid version.
